Bolatbek Baymakhanov graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at the Alma-Ata State Medical Institute in 1986. He completed an internship in Surgery at the Kyzylorda Regional Hospital from 1986 to 1987.
He began his professional career in 1987 as an endoscopy physician at the Kyzylorda Regional Hospital. In 1991, he completed a two–year clinical residency in Abdominal Surgery. In 1995, following a competitive selection, he was appointed Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Endoscopic Surgery of the A.N. Syzganov Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Surgery.
In 2000, he was appointed Head of the Health Department of the South Kazakhstan Region. In 2003, he became Director of the A.N. Syzganov National Scientific Center of Surgery. In parallel, in 2006, he graduated from the T. Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.
From 2007 to 2008, he served as Head of the Department of Surgery of the Liver, Biliary Tract, and Pancreas at the Center. In 2008, he was appointed Head of the Health Department of the Kyzylorda Region. Since 2011, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Republican Center for Emergency Medical Care in Astana.
From February 2012 to 2016, he served as Chief Physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 7 in Almaty. Since January 2016, he has held the position of Chairman of the Board of the A.N. Syzganov National Scientific Center of Surgery.
He is the author of more than 200 scientific and practical publications and holds 42 patents for inventions, as well as 28 preliminary and innovative patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Under his mentorship, 8 PhD and 4 Doctoral dissertations have been successfully defended.
